Handouts should be short enough to use under field pressure. One route, one page, one clear set of steps. If someone needs to read three pages to understand the transfer process, the handout hasn't done its job yet. Every PDF in this library was written for a local leader who needs to work through it alone, in the field, on a phone or a printed sheet.

How to use the PDF library

  1. Pick the right handout before you leave

    Match the PDF to the field question: mission overview for a board introduction, phone transfer sheet for a specific device route, setup guide for kit deployment, or FAQ for quick answers in the field.

  2. Download before you lose internet access

    Save PDFs to the phone, laptop, USB drive, and microSD card before departing for the field. Don't assume you'll have connectivity to download later.

  3. Print only what you'll actually use

    Keep field packets light. A stack of twenty PDFs is overwhelming; five relevant ones get used. Bring the sheets that match the specific mission setting.

  4. Translate when the setting requires it

    If a local language version is needed, keep the same structure and simpler words. The step numbers and flow should stay identical so the process is recognizable even if the language changes.

  5. Store printed copies with the kit

    Every VillageServer kit should include a small folder with the relevant printed handouts. Keep digital copies on the device itself so they're available without the paper.
